wondered how all those amazing hollywood effects are made – like when the heros are in the eye of a storm, explosions are going off all around, or giant waves are engulfing a whole city.

To get these kind of shots, big cinema studios use a green screen or chroma key background, special software,

professional lighting, and other specialist equipment. The special effects like explosions, fire, and smoke are added in the editing suite. That’s a long,

difficult, and expensive process. Just a few breathtaking seconds of film can cost millions of dollars. But today we’ll show you a couple of ways you create an action movie yourself at home or on the streets. First, you need to decide what your scene will look like and how you’re going to shoot it.

We’ve come up with our story already: I’m going to run from right to left and on the right, there will be an explosion that we’ll add during the montage. If we set the shot this way,

it will be easier to position the explosion. The person obviously should not touch or otherwise get in the way of the explosion! In this example, we are not using chroma key so it would be very difficult to separate the character from the background. As you can see, we don't have an explosion in our video. Of course, we could throw a grenade or set fire to the tires to make things more realistic,

but i’m afraid the neighbors wouldn’t appreciate that kind of dedication to cinematography. We’re going to use footage of explosions made on a green screen.

We’ve used Movavi Video Editor because it lets you easily achieve your desired effect by getting rid of the green screen background and merging all the parts together in the final video. Place the footage with the explosion above the main video and separate the green background with the chroma key tool. Start changing the opacity level until the background disappears.

The explosion is a huge event, so let’s enhance it by adding camera shake and some color correction.

Open the ‘Filters’ tab and choose “Artistic”. Select the ‘camera shake’ filter and apply it to both videos.

This filter will create the effect of a shock wave from the explosion. Then go to Color filter and choose the one that will create an atmosphere of hot air and a real fire. I’ve chosen this one. Congratulations! You have successfully keying – that’s the term for green background separating The video with the explosion should impress your friends and be a pretty awesome addition to your movie or video blog if you don’t have much money to spend on special effects.
